- - Inspiration
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant,
authoritative Word of God. (2 Tim. 3:16 - 17; 2 Peter 1:21)
-
- - Godhead
We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Fatherhood over creation (I Cor. 8:6)
Fatherhood by intimate relationships (Psalm. 103:13)
The Fatherhood of our Lord Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:3)
The Father of all who believe (John 1:12; Eph. 5:1)
-
- - Deity
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin
birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death through
His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the
right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and
glory.
His deity (John 1:14)
His virgin birth (Matt. 1:23; Isaiah 7:14)
His sinless life (Heb. 4:15)
His miracles (The Gospels)
His vicarious and atoning death (John 1:19)
His shed blood (Heb. 9:22)
His bodily resurrection (John 20:11 - 17)
His ascension to the Father (Acts 1:9)
His personal return (Acts 1:11)
-
- - Total Depravity
We believe that man is sinfully lost and incapable of reaching
God on his own merit (Rom. 3:23; Titus 3:5; Rom. 6:23).
-
- - Salvation
We believe salvation is the whole work of God by which He rescues
man from eternal ruin and doom of sin and bestows on him the
riches of His grace including eternal life now and eternal glory
upon death (Jonah 2:9; Luke 19:9 - 10).
-
- - Repentance
We believe in repentance and the washing of regeneration through
the blood of Jesus Christ and the renewing to a new man through
the working of the Holy Spirit (John 33; Rom. 10: 13 - 15; Luke
24:47).
-
- - Holy Spirit
We believe in the person and the work of the Holy Spirit.
A. He is a person and has personality.
(1). He reproves the world of sin (John 16:8).
(2). He teaches (John 14:26; I John 2:27).
(3). He speaks (Gal. 4:6).
(4). He intercedes (Romans 8:26).
(5). He leads (Gal. 5:18).
(6). He ministers (John 3:6; Eph. 4:30; 5:18).
(7). He comforts (John 14:14 - 16, 26; 16:7).
B. He is co-equal with God the Father and Son.
(1). He is called God (Acts 5:3, 4).
(2). He has the attribute of God (Gen. 1:2).
(3). He performs the works of God (Job 33:4; Psalm 104:30; Luke
12:11 - 12; Acts 1:5).
-
- - The Church
We believe the Church is the "ecclesia" or "called
out ones." These are those who have been called out of their
sin to faith in Jesus Christ's shed blood on Calvary (I Thess.
1:9).
-
- - Ordinances
We believe the Scriptures teach the observance of two Ordinances.
A. Believer's Baptism (Col. 2:12; Rom. 6:4 - 5; Acts 8:26 - 39)
B. Lord's Table (I Cor. 11:23 - 34) We practice open communion.
-
- - Resurrection
We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the
lost: they which are saved unto life eternal with Christ, they
which are lost to eternal damnation.
A. Believers (I John 3:2; I Cor. 15:51 - 58; I Thess. 4:13 -
18)
B. Lost (Rev. 20:11 - 15)
-
- - The Body
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers (Eph. 4:11 - 16;
I Cor. 12:12 - 31).
-
- - Membership Responsibility
We believe that upon membership, each member should support the
effort of Hope Church. This may include, but not be limited to
finances, attendance and prayer (Malachi 3:8 - 10).
